Capture every form lead — even the ones who never hit submit.
Allwebforms auto-saves every field as your visitor types. When they bail, you still get the lead — visible in your dashboard, ready to follow up.
3 in 4 visitors abandon your form. Allwebforms saves them anyway.
Up to 81% of people who start filling out a web form never finish it. They get distracted, second-guess a field, or close the tab. With a typical form, that data vanishes the moment they leave.
If 1,000 visitors start your demo form each month and 70% abandon, that's 700 prospects you never knew about. At a $4,000 deal size and a 5% close rate, that's $140,000 in pipeline lost every month.
Partial Submission stops the leak. It captures what your visitor typed before they submit — so an abandoned form becomes a recoverable lead, not a black hole.
How it works in 3 steps
Flip the toggle
Open any form, switch on Partial Submission in settings. No code, no extra script tag.
Visitors fill — we save
As each field is completed, Allwebforms quietly stores the value. No reload, no impact on form speed.
Follow up from your dashboard
Partial entries land alongside complete ones, ready to filter, export, or push into your CRM.
What you can do with partial entries
View every abandoned entry
Partial submissions appear next to completed ones — clearly marked, with a timestamp and the % of the form filled.
Export to CSV for outreach
Hand sales a list. Drop them into a recovery email campaign. Build a remarketing audience.
Spot conversion-killing fields
See where visitors stop. If 60% of abandons happen on the phone field, you've found something worth fixing.
Rules for what counts
Only save entries with an email address, or after 50% of fields are complete. Keep your dashboard clean.
Push partials to your stack
Wire partials into your CRM, email marketing platform, or webhook — same integrations as complete submissions.
Real-time field-by-field saves
Every field change is captured asynchronously in the background. Zero performance hit.
Who Partial Submission is for
Any form where the lead is worth more than the friction of asking for it.
- Lead-generation forms — demo requests, contact forms, talk-to-sales pages
- Job applications — long forms where candidates often start and finish later
- Multi-step checkouts and registrations — recover the visitor who bailed on step 4
- Surveys and research forms — capture partial answers from people who close the tab
- SaaS signup flows — get the email even when the visitor abandons before picking a plan
Partial Submission vs. Save & Resume
Two features that sound similar — they solve different problems and can run side by side.
| Partial Submission | Save & Resume | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it helps | You — captures leads that would otherwise be lost | The visitor — lets them finish a long form later |
| Triggered by | Every field change, automatically | Visitor clicking ‘save my progress’ |
| Visitor sees the data? | No | Yes — they get a resume link |
| You see the data? | Yes, in the dashboard | Only after they finally submit |
| Best for | Lead recovery, abandonment analytics | Long applications, multi-session forms |
Most Allwebforms customers turn on both — Partial Submission catches silent abandoners; Save & Resume helps the visitors who plan to come back.
Privacy and consent — done right
Capturing data before a visitor hits submit makes some teams nervous. We've built Partial Submission to keep you on the right side of privacy law and your visitors' trust.
Optional visitor notice
Display a clear message under the form (‘Your responses are being saved as you type’). Turn it on in one click.
GDPR-friendly defaults
Partial entries follow the same retention rules as complete submissions. Delete on request, on schedule, or never store at all.
What we never capture
Payment cards, e-signatures, password fields, and other sensitive-by-design fields are excluded from partial saves automatically.
Conditional capture
Only save partials when an email field is filled — so you only store identifiable leads, not anonymous typos.
The first-24-hours recovery playbook
Capturing the partial is half the win. Following up well is the other half.
Entry hits the dashboard
Allwebforms tags the partial entry and fires a webhook into your CRM or pings the form owner in Slack.
Automated soft-touch email
‘Hi {firstname}, looks like you didn't finish — can I help?’ Plain text, from a real person. Avg reply rate: 6–9%.
Sales picks up high-intent leads
Filter partials where the visitor reached the last step or picked the top tier, and assign to a rep.
Nurture sequence
Anyone who didn't reply joins your standard nurture. They told you they were interested — keep the conversation open.
Frequently asked questions
Does Partial Submission work on multi-step forms?
Yes. Allwebforms saves data on every field change, regardless of which step it's on. You'll see exactly which step a visitor reached when they abandoned.
Will this slow my form down?
No. Saves happen asynchronously in the background — no visible loading state, no blocking keystrokes. Form load time is unchanged.
What triggers a save?
Moving from one field to the next (or off the form) triggers a save of every field the visitor has touched. You can also configure threshold rules — e.g. only save once an email field is filled.
Can I turn it off for specific forms?
Yes. Partial Submission is enabled per form, so you can have it on for your demo-request form and off for an internal feedback form.
Does it work with my CRM and email tool?
Partial entries flow through the same integration layer as complete submissions — HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, webhooks, Zapier, and the rest of the Allwebforms integration catalog.
Do my visitors know their data is being saved?
Only if you want them to. We recommend showing a brief notice for transparency — it's a single toggle. Some regulated industries require it; most lead-gen forms don't.
Is Partial Submission included in my plan?
Partial Submission is available on all paid Allwebforms plans.
Is this GDPR compliant?
Used with the visitor-notice option (or conditional-capture rules tied to your consent flow), Partial Submission fits inside a GDPR-compliant setup. Your DPA covers partial entries the same way as complete ones.
